Delaware OSHA Safety Training
Delaware OSHA Safety Training follows statewide suggestions for risk management. The courses provided are available both online, through self-paced computer training and on-site courses for construction workers and non-construction industries such as manufacturing, distribution, warehousing, health care, education, food service and many others.
Delaware is not a “state plan” state; that is, it does not have a federally approved occupational safety and health program. Consequently, the federal OSH Act governs workplace safety and health requirements in the private sector. There are no enforceable state safety and health rules for public (state and local government operations) sector workplaces. OSHA administers and enforces occupational safety and health in private sector workplaces in Delaware. The Delaware Department of Public Health (DPH) is part of the state’s Health and Social Services agency. DPH has an Office of Occupational Health that acts as a resource to employers in their efforts to minimize exposure to hazardous materials in the workplace in order to improve the workplace environment for the benefit of all Delawareans. The Office of Occupational Health provides confidential education and consultation services – at no charge – for public sector employers and employees, including State of Delaware departments and agencies.
The Delaware Department of Labor’s OSHA Consultation Office provides free, on-site consultation services to small businesses (fewer than 250 employees per facility, and 500 employees per company) in the state. The consultations help identify potential hazards, improve safety management systems, and assist in voluntary compliance with OSHA regulations.
Delaware OSHA Safety Training For Non-State Plan States
Delaware OSHA Safety Training is suggested and encouraged through the various consulting services of Delaware state agencies. Delaware is not an OSHA State Plan participant. While the Delaware DPH monitors workplace compliance, company compliance is largely based in federal OSHA regulations, guidelines, rules and directives. OSHA established the OSHA Outreach Training Program to provide workers with an easy way to study and receive their OSHA Wallet Card. For construction workers, this includes the OSHA 10 Hour Construction Training Course which is an essential training that covers a wide variety of OSHA monitored safety hazards. This 10 hour course for OSHA safety takes approximately two days to complete online, but up to 90 days can be allowed to complete it. The course comes with a FREE study guide. Once the course is completed and the final exam is passed, the student is allowed to print off a temporary certificate of completion that can act as a interim OSHA Wallet Card until it arrives in the mail from the Department of Labor.
Those workers that need their Delaware OSHA Safety Training but are not in the construction industry, are encouraged to take the OSHA 10 Hour General Industry Training Course. This OSHA-Accepted course covers the essential training for workers that are in manufacturing, distribution, health care, institutions of education and other non-construction industries. Similarly, the 10 hour course can be taken on line and finished in a two-day time period (with up to 90 days maximum). The OSHA Wallet Card follows a few weeks later.
Delaware OSHA Safety Training also has courses for supervisors, foremen, line managers and executives on basic safety and the principles of managing risk. The OSHA 30 Hour Construction Course and the OSHA 30 Hour General Industry Course are available through computer-based, online instruction. These courses also are available with FREE study guides. The 30 hour courses are typically a four day effort online. The instructions allows you to log in and out of multiple computers to take your training. At the successful end of the course you’ll get your certificate of completion with is an interim document until your OSHA Wallet Card is sent to your in a few weeks from the Department of Labor.
