REGULATIONS AND JURISDICTIONS
Since the state of Missouri does not have an approved state OSHA program, worker safety regulations are regulated under the guidance of the Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Under the General Duty Clause of the OSH Act, all employers, no matter what size, are required, by law, to provide a safe and healthy environment for their workers.
OSHA Training in Independence MO follows Missouri law enacted in the Construction Safety Training Act. It contains provisions requiring all contractors and subcontractors who enter into contracts with public bodies for construction of public works to train their on-site employees regarding the potential hazards they may encounter while working on the project. The training may be accomplished by providing a standard OSHA 10 Hour Construction course or similar program provided it is as stringent as the OSHA 10 hour program and approved by the Division of Labor Standards.
Further regulations are enumerated in CFR Part 29 which document extensive requirements for prevention, documentation and management of safety and health risks. These include the following sections:
29 CFR 1903 – OSHA workplace poster requirements
29 CFR 1904 – OSHA Injury and Illness record keeping requirements
29 CFR 1910 – General Industry Safety Standards
29 CFR 1926 – Construction Industry Safety Standards
