OSHA Safety Training For All Utah Industries Statewide

Utah was admitted to the Union as the 45th state in January of 1896. It has a unique distinction of being strongly identified with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, or the Mormons. Over 62% of the population of the state is a member of the church. It is the state with the largest majority of the population belonging to a single church. Economically, Utah is a center of transportation, education, information technology and research, government services, mining, and a major tourist destination for outdoor recreation. Utah also has a great deal of mining activity, both in petroleum and coal production

In November of 1976, OSHA certified Utah’s state plan for health and safety management. Utah Occupational Safety and Health (Utah OSHA) is part of Utah’s Labor Commission. There is one Utah OSHA office that covers the entire state, and it is centrally located in Salt Lake City, Utah. You can view the OSHA State Plan for Utah here. While Utah adopts most federal standards identically, the state periodically supplements federal standards with additional requirements. These supplements are placed in the Utah Administrative Code, Title R614.

Utah has unique standards in the following areas:

  • Toxic Chemical Handling and Exposure
  • Agriculture
  • Child Labor

State workers are governed by Utah OSHA Safety Training laws for education and training purposes. Our OSHA Outreach Training programs for Construction and General Industry are designed to comply with all Utah OSHA Safety Training criteria and are accepted in all 50 states, including Utah.
