Alaska OSHA Safety Training For All Industries Statewide
After it’s purchase by the United States from Russia in 1867, Alaska remained a territory until 1959 when it became the 49th state. Today, more than 80% of the state’s revenues are derived from petroleum extraction. Alaska’s other main export products (excluding oil and natural gas) is seafood, primarily salmon, cod, Pollock and crab. Alaska OSHA Safety Training is a key focus area for oil and gas exploration and production statewide. OSHA training courses are important as they address such key safety areas as confined space entry, struck-by/caught-in/caught-between hazards, fire hazards, falls, machine hazards and many more.
Alaska is recognized by OSHA as having a “state plan”. According to OSHA, State Plans are “OSHA-approved job safety and health programs operated by individual states instead of federal OSHA.” Section 18 of the OSH Act encourages states to develop and operate their own job safety and health programs and precludes state enforcement of OSHA standards unless the state has an OSHA-approved State Plan. OSHA also approves and monitors these state plans as well as providing up to 50% of their funding.
